Blog Post #3: Final Style Guide, Posters, Business Cards, and Deliverables Check 03/27/2024

Hello again. It has been a very eventful few weeks at Junietta, and in this 3rd main blog post, I'll go into specifics about the finalized style guide, new posters, business cards, and the deliverables check. This post will consist of five different sections, the Style Guide, Poster/Synthesizer Render, Business Cards, Deliverables Check, and New Venture Championship.

Style Guide

While we are still waiting for input from the outside brand designer regarding our style guide, I have created the final guide for our internal use. I will share a few pages in the post. Mainly, we have added a few sections (Not all shown in the images), that being...

1. Updated Logo Section

2. Core Values Section

3. Updated Social Media Section

4. Business Card Layout Section

The final style guide displays our branding front and center, down the the page color, monochrome buildings, sketches, and various shapes found around the content.

Therefore, the style guide is now complete, and that portion of this project is now concluded. We are really satisfied with it!

Poster / Synthesizer Render

Another core portion of the project would be the high-quality render, 2D or 3D, of the synthesizer. I would really like to create a 3D-render of the product, but as the unit undergoes the final changes in Fusion 360, I do not have access to the file at the moment, and the team has decided a full-blown 3D-render of the product would be more suited to when all last adjustments are complete.

Based off of that, the final render will most likely be 2D, however, in the event I am able to look more into the final adjustments, I can be given access to the 3D model and create a render. Speaking of 2D illustrations, we had a few ideas for this part of the project. Therefore, we tied these ideas into not only my project, but our other needs. We are currently searching for an additional team member who is skilled in electrical engineering, so I composited an old render of the synth (Alongside an image of it's schematic) onto a new poster for this use. We plan on advertising it around our campuses (As I attend NKU, and another employee attends UC). Below, you can see the poster, which I created in Photoshop using a variety of blending modes, type tools, and more.

We wanted the poster to appear as slightly worn, with bold lettering through the Inter font we use for headers, which you can see in detail in the above style guideline snippets. Our new logo is on display, with some of our primary colors as well. The worn schematic can be seen overlayed above the "Purusing a degree in electrical engineering?" text as well. Our old render of the synthesizer is also seen below the "Let's get in touch." Of course, if you are interested at our work at Junietta, I'd be more than happy to have a discussion about it! Additionally, we revamped an old poster from last semester that we would also like to print and leave in public spaces where permitted, which you may see below.

Business Cards

Lastly, while this was not initially part of the DFX 452 project, I felt it was right to include it here. I designed business cards through Photoshop utilizing the 3.5" x 2" (1.75) ratio. Below, you can see the cards front-and-center, as well as in a Photoshop composite. These business cards will be ordered soon, and we hope to pass them out at the UC New Venture Championship (NVP) in early April, more on that soon. Alongside these cards, we have ordered a bulk set of 100 stickers of the logo through the manufacturer Death by Stickers. We are also looking into Printify as suggested by Professor Ketty.

Deliverables Check
Per DFX 452, I'd like to detail my deliverables check. I'm quite pleased with my progress so far, so let's review and comment on my initial deliverables for the Junietta DFX 452 project:

     1. Create a full, high-quality brand style guideline (Ex. Not just text, but includes colors, fonts, logos, how renders should be presented, is fully stylized, etc) for Junietta (Complete!)

    2. Finalize the Junietta brand logo under the new style guidelines (Complete!).

    3. Include a high-quality render of the synthesizer instrument product with fully rendered materials (If time allows) that may later be used in promotional advertising, online and in print (Complete!). However, I would like to go above and beyond and create another illustration if possible, a 3D if I am able (Depends on the other members finalizing the schematics and model), or else it will be another 2D illustration (Which is alright).

    4. Dedicated showcase website page on my personal portfolio. Detailed workflow process through portfolio & blog website (In Progress). This step is in progress and will be done during April, it naturally is completed at the end of the semester. A demo reel will be created for this step as well, per the project requirements in all of DFX 452.

This project is a fantastic success thus far; I'm caught up (And in some ways ahead) on my deliverables and we are making great strides at Junietta. Furthermore, I am also documenting "extra" content for this project, which is the...

University of Cincinnati New Venture Championship

...which takes place in early April. I will be sure to document this exciting event through this blog, as it is a huge opportunity for us and I am really invested in it. It's a huge undertaking but I know our team has the strength to do well, whether we come out as #1 or not, we'll still learn and grow from this in so many ways. Thank you for reading!
